Module 2 · Do the work
Document the process
Write the operating process for the week.
Practical assignment ~60 minLesson 3 of 7
DOI-native
A process document is judged by one test: could a competent stranger run the week from it without asking you anything? Write for that person.
- One trigger per step — a day, a time or an event
- One owner per step, even if that owner is 'the operations hire'
- The inputs each step needs and where they live
- What 'done' looks like for each step
- What to do when a step fails, and who to tell
Assignment brief
Document the weekly operating cycle for the fictional company in the brief.
What to hand in
- A process document covering the full weekly cycle
- A named trigger, owner, inputs and done-condition per step
- An exception path for the two steps most likely to fail
What the reviewer looks for
- A stranger could run the week from it unaided
- Every step has a trigger, an owner and a done-condition
- Exceptions are handled, not assumed away
- Written in plain language, no internal jargon
