Drafting a working agreement
Write a one-page agreement for a demo client.
Keep it to one page. Plain sentences, no legal language. This is the version you will reuse on every future engagement, so write it for yourself as much as for the client.
Assignment brief
A fictional client: a four-person marketing agency in a time zone five hours behind you. They have never hired outside their country before and have asked how this will work in practice.
What to hand in
- A one-page working agreement covering all five items
- Hours expressed in both time zones with the overlap named
- Response times in hours, split routine versus urgent
- A continuity plan for power, internet and illness
What the reviewer looks for
- All five items present and specific — no 'as soon as possible'
- Both time zones shown, overlap window explicit
- Continuity plan is concrete and plausible
- Under one page, no legal boilerplate
